Tests
& Examinations:
KVS
follows the system of continuous and comprehensive evaluation of students achievements in academics. In an academic year, every KV holds following
tests / examinations
A.
Unit Tests for Class VI onwards (except for classes X and XII)
Three
Unit tests are conducted during an academic year. Each unit test is of 40 marks thus making a
total of 120 marks for unit tests which is reduced to 20 marks as weightage of unit tests in the final result.
This is
conducted in the 3rd week of November. Its weightage in
the final result is of 20 marks.
C.
Session ending examinations.
This is
conducted in the 2nd / 3rd week of March with a common
set of question papers prepared at the Regional Level.
Evaluation is done at cluster level to minimize subjectivity. Its weightage in
the final result is of 40 marks.
Final assessment of a student is based on his
total achievement out of a maximum of 100 marks in each subject distributed as
under:
(i) CW.HW Assignment 10
marks
(ii) Unit Tests 20 marks
(iii) Half yearly Exams 20 marks
(iv) Project / Practicals 10 marks
(v) Session ending Exams 40 marks
Total 100 marks
(A) For Primary Classes
i)
Promotion from Class I and II is decided on the
basis of continuous and comprehensive assessment made every month of the work
done in the class and assignments given to the children. No unit test, half yearly examination and
session ending examination is held for them.
ii)
All students of Classes I and II get promoted.
iii)
If a child gets ‘E’ grade in 3 subjects or more in
class III onwards, he/she can be detained in the same class only with the consent of the parent.
iv)
In case
the parent does not give consent, the student is promoted to the next
class. However, if the student again
gets ‘E’ grade in 3 subjects or more in the next class, the Principal shall
detain the child in the same class.
v)
The child who gets ‘E’ grade in any 2 subjects in
class V is given an opportunity to improve upon it and if he gets ‘D’ grade
even in one subject, he is promoted to Class VI.
vi)
Promotion from class I upto
class V is made on the basis of the total assessment of competencies and skills made on a five
point scale viz. A, B, C, D and E where E stands for ‘needs guidance.’
(B)
For Classes VI to IX and XI
Each
student should pass the continuous and comprehensive evaluation as well as the
annual examination separately with at least 33% marks. Thus, each child needs to obtain not less
than 20 marks out of 60 in each subject in the continuous and comprehensive
assessment for class VI on-wards and 13 marks out of 40 in annual examination,
for being promoted to the next class. To pass the examination, a student must
obtain not less than 33% marks in each of the academic subjects viz Languages, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies and
at least 33% in the aggregate.
In classes IX and XI if a candidate secures
less than 33% marks in one or two subjects in the session ending examination,
he is eligible to take the supplementary examination in those subjects. The candidate will be promoted to the next
higher class, only
if he/she secures 33% marks in each of these subjects in the supplementary
examination. The supplementary
examination is conducted 3 weeks after the declaration of the results.
Grace Marks for Classes VI
to VIII
Grace marks shall not be more than 10 in all
subjects put together restricted to maximum of 5 marks in one subject. These would be awarded on the actual marks
obtained by a student without reducing them to the weightage
of 60 or 40 while bringing out the final assessment.
That is to say, that these 05 marks in a
subject can be awarded either in session ending examination of 100 marks paper
or in continuous comprehensive evaluation before reducing the marks to the weightage of 60 or 40.
This can either be in the session ending examination or continuous
comprehensive evaluation or split up in both.
The ceiling for a subject shall remain 05 as marks.
Issue of Transfer
Certificate
Issue of TC on transfer of the parent
For issue of transfer certificate, the parent
should submit withdrawal form stating clearly the details of the child and the
reason for taking the TC. After
submission of withdrawal form, the Principal issues TC in 3-7 days time. In case there is delay of more than 7 days
without proper justification, the parent can approach the Assistant
commissioner of the region concerned for redressal.
Not Automatically valid TCs
Children who have not completed one academic
session in the K.V of their initial admission cannot be issued TC as they are
not automatically entitled for admission to another KV except if the parents
have been transferred to another location after the admission of the
child. However, if under this situation,
TC is issued, the seal of ‘Not Automatically Valid’ is superscribed
on TC which checks child’s movement from one location to another without proper
reason. For revalidation of such T.Cs Assistant
Commissioner of the region should be approached.
Change of Shift for Local
Transfer
Chairman, VMC of the concerned KV is the
competent authority to permit change of shift of a child. For Local Transfer, AC of the concerned
region is competent authority to decide such cases.
